Pluck is built around the idea that your scans should stay yours. Here's exactly how we handle the data the app touches.

Last updated: June 6, 2026

Short version

  • No account. Pluck doesn't ask you to sign up.
  • Your scans live in your iCloud. Encrypted by Apple, tied to your Apple ID. We don't have a server that holds them.
  • AI extraction is opt-in per scan, runs on-device where possible, and falls back to OpenAI or Anthropic for complex pages. Page text is sent for the extraction call and discarded.
  • No tracking. No advertising IDs. No third-party analytics that identify you.
  • Anonymous app health metrics (e.g. counts of scans completed, app launches) are collected via TelemetryDeck without anything that ties them back to you.

What we collect

Pluck collects the minimum data needed to make the app work. We don't sell any of it.

Stored in your iCloud (we can't see it)

  • Your scans (images and OCR text)
  • Extracted items (phone numbers, emails, addresses, dates, etc.)
  • Your tags, stars, and settings
  • Subscription state via Apple's StoreKit

Sent to AI providers (only when you trigger AI extraction)

  • The OCR text from the page being analyzed
  • A prompt asking the model to extract structured data

We use OpenAI and Anthropic depending on the document. Both providers have agreed not to retain or train on data sent through their API in the configurations Pluck uses.

Anonymous usage metrics

Pluck uses TelemetryDeck to track aggregate counts of things like "scan completed," "extraction failed," "subscription activated." A random anonymous identifier is generated per install. No names, emails, scan contents, or precise locations are ever sent.

What we don't do

  • We don't sell your data. There's no market for it and we have no interest in building one.
  • We don't track you across other apps or websites. We don't use any advertising frameworks.
  • We don't read your scans. They're encrypted in your iCloud; only your devices have access.
  • We don't share your data with partners. There are no partners.

Permissions Pluck asks for

  • Camera: to scan documents.
  • Photo Library: only if you import a scan from Photos.
  • Location (optional, off by default): only if you turn on "tag scan locations" in Settings.
  • Contacts: only when you save a scanned business card as a contact.
  • Calendar / Reminders: only when you turn a scanned date into an event or reminder.

Pluck never requests a permission until you take an action that needs it. You can revoke any permission in iOS Settings at any time.

Children

Pluck is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has used the app to send information to us, please contact us and we'll remove it.

Changes to this policy

If we change anything material about how we handle data, we'll update this page and bump the "last updated" date at the top. For significant changes we'll also notify you in the app.
